Ultra-low-dose chest CT imaging of COVID-19 patients using a deep residual neural network

A new study aimed to design an ultra-low-dose CT examination protocol to diagnose patients with COVID-19. This protocol makes use of a novel deep learning approach to enable the diagnosis of COVID-19. In this study, 800 ultra-low-dose CT images were used to train the algorithm. The results of this algorithm demonstrate that a novel deep learning algorithm is capable of predicting standard full-dose CT images with acceptable quality for the clinical diagnosis of COVID-19 positive patients with substantial radiation dose reduction.
