The current method for diagnosing COVID-19 involves the use of a long swab gently pushed high up into the nasal cavity. While this test is effective, it also has been described as unpleasant.
Researchers at Ohio State University in the U.S. have been working on a different solution for testing: a breathalyzer. This test will be as simple as breathing out. This could be an alternative for the current testing kits since they can sometimes be costly, take a while to get results back, and require trained personnel to take the sample as well as analyze the results. The device is still being worked on by the researchers at Ohio State University.
